Hi! My name is Dana and I'm the maker behind Selah! Thanks so much for visiting the shop today. I started painting signs back in 2002 as a means of decorating my own home and making a little extra money for Christmas gifts. I could have never, ever imagined that 17 years later, I'd be doing this full time as a career... I am so thankful and never take it for granted that this is my life.
Selah is a one-woman show, so every week, I'm switching hats between product designer, builder, painter, framer, shipping expert, social media director, sales coordinator, mentor, encourger, and website troubleshooter-er. Besides my business, I am married with two kids, love Jesus, watching my daughter dance and my son play sports, and have two labradoodles.
Beyond painting signs and selling them online, I also host local art parties called Cork 'n Crafts, where a group of ladies gather together for a sign painting party. It's been a wonderful way for me to make connections with the women in my community!
In addition, I also host 4-day creative retreats, called Selah Retreat. These retreats are currently held in three locations around the country (Seaside Oregon, Newton Kansas, and Leander Texas), and each offers a special day trip that highlights what that location has to offer. These retreats have my heart and soul...I absolutely love gathering with other women, forming bonds, and empowering them to make pretty things with their hands. For me, there is hardly a greater joy. God shows up in pretty amazing ways!
We live in the cozy beach town of Seaside, Oregon, a mere 8 blocks from the Pacific Ocean. It's breathtakingly beautiful here, particularly in the summer and fall. When I'm not working (which, let's face it...isn't often), I'm usually working on DIY home projects (my favorite right now are shiplap and German schmear!), cheering on my daughter at a dance competition, or hanging with the family on movie night.
Joanna Gaines and Jen Hatmaker are my spirit animals, and I absolutely love Jesus. He is my everything and the very reason why I have a redemptive story to share.
